Alison is the principal Cor Anglais with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and oboe professor at the Guildhall School of music and Drama. Whilst studying at Guildhall she was awarded the position of Assistant Principal oboe in the Hong Kong Philharmonic, she later won the prestigious Isle of Wight Oboe Competition (now the Isle of Man competition) and became the Principal Cor Anglais player with BBC National Orchestra of Wales in 2003.

Her career is varied, encompassing concerto performances, most recently in Tampa Florida as part of the opening concert for the International Double Reed Society, solo and chamber music recitals across Europe and Asia, orchestral work, sessions and is in demand as a teacher in one to one lessons, instrumental masterclasses and as a mentor in teaching practise.
